My name is Karenina (she/they) and I am a Mexican therapist rooted in collective liberation. I’m interested in overthrowing systems of oppression both inside and outside of therapy. I practice through a liberation psychology lens, meaning that I interpret oppression as the root of mental health issues. Many of us experience racism, classism, ableism, colonialism, and imperialism throughout life, but are unaware of it. I want to explore their manifestations in our daily lives: the despair of multiple genocides, the stress of inflated living costs, the fear of ecological disaster, and the frustration of an inaccessible healthcare system. Individual therapy will not end these systems entirely. My goal is to support you in fighting them and building a better world. In the words of Assata Shakur, “we need a r/evolution of the mind. we need a r/evolution of the heart. we need a r/evolution of the spirit. […] it’s not enough just to change the system. we need to change ourselves.” I look forward to being your therapist in r/evolution.
